2021 Regional Summit on the State of Opportunity for Black Boys & Young Men

This past June, 127 St. Louis organizations joined HomeGrown StL's (HGStL) Summit to identify strategies for closing the healing, growth, and opportunity gaps for Black boys and young men throughout the Saint Louis region. Attendees heard from several of our key partners about how HGStL aligns with their organization's strategic priorities and they participated in strategic sessions to inform HGStL 2022 priorities in the following pillar areas: Personal Safety, Health, Skills to Jobs with a Livable Wage, Mentoring, and Service Delivery & Care Coordination. A complete report highlighting our 2022 strategic priorities will be available in September 2021.

Who is Safe in Saint Louis? Examining Why Black Male Personal Safety is Critical for a Better Saint Louis

HGStL Regional Steering Committee (RSC) has launched

The Regional Steering Committee (RSC) provides direct input to the work of HGStL's Administrative Core, Preferred Provider Network (PPN), and pillar committees. The RSC serves as a vehicle for the identification, dissemination, and institutionalization of critical issues that impact Black boys and young men between the ages of 12-29 years old in the St. Louis region.

The goal of the RSC is to act as a sounding board for HGStL initiatives and to enhance impact, improve morale, and foster innovation and creativity across all 7 pillars of HGStL.

Meet our 2021-2024 RSC members.

HGStL Preferred Provider Network Preparing for Growth

The HomeGrown StL Preferred Provider Network (PPN) is a collaborative group of cross-sector service providers committed to providing rapid, coordinated, humane, and healing responses to Black boys and young men across the Saint Louis region. Over the past year, the PPN Planning Committee has finalized many of the key network development elements needed to prepare for a robust enrollment of new service providers starting in January 2022. The remainder of our year will involve fully aligning all PPN member agencies with the Community Information Exchange (CIE), setting 2022 PPN Work Group priorities, and hosting the HGStL PPN Community Information Sessions scheduled to start in September 2021.

Interested in becoming a Preferred Provider?

If your organization is currently serving Black boys and young men ages 12-29 and/or you would like to improve access and culturally congruent care, please plan to attend an HGStL PPN Community Information Session to learn more. The first step is to register your organization with HGStL by joining our mailing list here. If you have already registered and need to update your information, or if you are not sure whether you have already registered, please email us at homegrown@wustl.edu with subject heading "HGStL Registry".

Let us work together to eliminate structures that impede Black youth and their families from achieving their highest potential. We are currently offering a limited number of Black youth ages 12-17 who reside in St. Louis City and County a unique opportunity to be paired with a HomeGrown StL Life Coach to work on personal goal attainment.
